ACM: polyacrylate
Commercial names: Cyanacryl (American Cynamid), Hycar (B.F. Goodrich Chem.Co.), Elaprim AR (Montedison).
Polyacrylate elastomers are copolymers of acrylic esters with the addition of a small percentage of a monomer component which has the specific function of providing the skeleton for the reticulation. This compound has a good tolerance to contact with mineral fluids and a good resistance to the action of oxygen and nitrogen, even at high temperatures; at low temperatures it rapidly loses its elastic properties.
The addition of loads of carbon makes the compound easy to work and improves the characteristics of vulcanised products.
