Group M compounds

FPM (FKM): fluorocarbon
Commercial names: Viton (Du Pont), Fluorel (3M Company), Tecnoflon (Montedison), Dai-el (Daikon Kagyo Co.).
Fluorine based compounds present a high resistance to the action of oxygen and ozone, even at high temperatures, they are compatible with many mineral and synthetic fluids, present resistance when exposed to flame and have self-extinguishing properties. The limitation of this compound is its scarce resistance to low temperatures, especially in dynamic applications, where its use is not advised at temperatures below 15°C.
Because of its low gas permeability it is used in vacuum seal applications.
